Roofing tar — Boston, MA

What affects the price

Several things change the final bill when you replace a roof. The total area of your home is the biggest factor, followed by the specific materials you choose, like asphalt shingles versus metal or tile. We also look at the pitch or slope of your roof and how many layers of old material need to be pulled off before we start. If there is hidden wood rot or damaged decking underneath, that adds to the labor and supplies required.

About this service

Roofing tar is a thick, viscous substance used as a sealant or adhesive for repairs, particularly around flashings and chimneys. It is effective for emergency leak patching because it hardens into a waterproof barrier. You generally use this when you need to seal small gaps or secure loose flashing quickly. While it is a useful temporary fix, it is not a substitute for proper structural repairs. It is best used as a stop-gap measure until a professional can perform a permanent fix.
